Girls Human Rights Hub

The Girls Human Rights Hub (GHRH) is a global initiative founded by Sultana Tafadar KC to advance equality, dignity, and justice for girls and young women. Grounded in the belief that every girl has the right to live free from violence, discrimination, and fear, GHRH uses the advocacy, leadership and litigation to drive systemic change and empower the next generation of changemakers.

At the heart of our mission is Girls Human Rights Month—a bold global campaign to make February officially recognised as Girls Human Rights Month. This landmark month is a call to action for governments, institutions, and civil society to prioritise girls’ rights on a global scale. During February, GHRH leads a powerful lineup of events that uplift girls’ voices and build the ecosystem for legal and social reform.

As part of the month-long campaign, we host the Girls Human Rights Festival, a vibrant celebration of girl-led activism, innovation, and storytelling. At the core of the Festival is the Advocacy Bootcamp, where girls receive high-impact training in public speaking, lobbying, and strategic influence—equipping them to take the lead on the issues that affect their lives.

  • We also convene the Leadership Summit, bringing together emerging and established female leaders to share tools, build networks, and shape policy agendas. This space enables girls to see themselves as leaders—not in the future, but right now.

  • The Young Lawyers Symposium offers a unique platform for aspiring legal professionals under 25 to engage with senior lawyers, judges, and activists. Through debates, workshops, and mentorship, the symposium builds legal literacy and a strong pipeline of future defenders of girls’ rights.

  • Our Lobbying and Influence Workshop trains girls and young women in how to engage political power—teaching them to write to MPs, hold strategic meetings, and influence public discourse. It turns passion into impact and ideas into policy.

The month culminates with the Girls Human Rights Awards Ceremony, honouring outstanding individuals, organisations, and youth leaders advancing the rights of girls around the world. These awards amplify those creating lasting change in law, policy, education, and community action.

In 2026, we will also launch the Girls Human Rights Conference for Legal Practitioners, bringing together barristers, solicitors, academics, and justice sector leaders to examine legal strategies for ending harmful practices such as child marriage, FGM, trafficking, and gender-based violence.

Beyond February, GHRH runs four year-round programmes designed to cultivate leadership, legal knowledge, and practical skills.

  • The Scholars Programme supports academic and personal development for girls, particularly those from marginalised communities, by providing learning resources, mentorship, and enrichment opportunities.

  • The Leadership Programme nurtures confident, capable young women equipped to lead change in their schools, communities, and professional sectors. It blends soft skills with strategic thinking, helping girls step into leadership with purpose and presence.

  • Our Advocacy Programme builds critical capacity in girls to campaign, organise, and advocate for policy change. Participants learn how to use their voice, mobilise others, and build movements that challenge injustice.

  • The Virtual Work Experience Programme gives girls a head start in their careers, offering placements with leading law firms, NGOs, and public institutions. These experiences bridge the gap between education and employment and ensure girls are workplace-ready.

To support and connect our community, GHRH hosts four thematic hubs: the Scholars Hub, Leadership Hub, Advocacy Hub, and Young Lawyers Hub. Each hub offers curated resources, events, training, and peer networking—providing a home for emerging leaders to grow together and drive change across sectors.

We also operate MiniHubs around the world—localized chapters based in schools, universities, and communities that bring the mission of GHRH to life on the ground. These MiniHubs organise local events, workshops, and campaigns, ensuring that girls everywhere have the tools and support to lead human rights efforts in their own contexts.

GHRH is building a global movement for girls’ rights—led by girls, powered by law, and anchored in justice.
